Mr. Putney has a great group of very interesting friends. Let's see if you can guess their names? This is a wonderfully inventive game for kids who love word play. "Who wakes Mr. Putney up in the morning?" So, look at the illustration on the facing page and you'll immediately notice the armadillo by the clock. Is the answer an armadillo? Not at all. It's an "alarmadillo."

So, you get the idea and page after page a question is asked and an illustration offers the clue. It's pretty easy to spot the animal but not as easy to figure out how they are going to turn its name inside out and all around. "A frug, a crookadile, and a guardvark" are all playing parts in Mr. Putney's day along with many, many more. How fun to see how creative you and your young listener can be. Maybe you'll invent your own animal names. See how many you can figure out before you turn the page to see the answer. Great fun!
