Mo Wren, Lost and Found

In this follow up to What Happened on Fox Street, the Wren family are packing up and leaving Fox Street to start a new life after the death of Mo’s mother.  Mo must now deal with new neighbors, fitting in at a new school, while missing the familiar surroundings of the neighborhood she loved.  To make matters worse, Mo is pretty sure the restaurant her father bought to support his family is cursed!  Feeling lost and out of place (something she’s never felt before), Mo must find some courage to make her new home on East 213th street—feel like home!

This story was well written, and I found myself caring for Mo and feeling sorry for her as she struggled to fit in with her new surroundings.   A wide variety of colorful characters add to the appeal of this story as well.  I think readers will enjoy getting to know this family and sharing in their joys and triumphs as they struggle to get along without their mother.  Word of caution, this book might not be a good fit for a student who has recently lost someone, particularly a parent or close family member. However, the story does give a good example of a character dealing with her grief and learning how to move on after the loss of a parent, so it could be beneficial for a student who has lost a parent and is ready for type of book.
