What do you get when you have a troop of monkeys, an elephant and a baobab nut? Why you have a game of Elephant in the Middle. Everyone was having so much fun until the elephant flung the nut into a deep dark cave. The monkeys trembled with fear. They would never enter into that dark hole. With elephant’s coaxing they entered to find that the cave was filled with paintings and drawings of animals. Each was made by either a handprint or a footprint. They soon forgot about the lost nut and began painting with their own hands and feet using mud. Creating a new game called “Monkey See, Monkey Draw.”

Alex Beard captures the playfulness and the uniqueness that each animal brings to the game. 48 pages Ages 5-8
