Miss Tutu's Star

I cannot resist-Miss Tutu’s Star is too-too cute. A story of perseverance on the part of a young girl who loves to dance and her supportive ballet teacher, this story in rhyme performs with aplomb. After practicing diligently for two years, Selena is gripped by stage fright. Her teacher Miss Tutu once again offers gentle words of encouragement, as she has throughout Selena’s lessons, and the show goes on. Another nice touch is the seamless weaving into the story’s rhyme of the names of ballet steps. Carey Armstrong-Ellis provides appealing portrayals of the children. She entertains further in her illustrations of the parents (take note of the progress of a knitted scarf) and siblings, watching the practices along with a cat who attends both the practices and performance. 32 pages Ages 4-8
