Miss Spitfire: Reaching Helen Keller

Her real name was Annie Sullivan, but her nickname suited her, Miss Spitfire. Annie was orphaned as a child. She and her beloved brother were sent to an Almshouse in Massachusetts. Jimmy died soon after and Annie, who was herself almost completely blind, certainly knew her share of loneliness, fear and anger. Amazingly, her spirit survived.
