Miss Spitfire: Reaching Helen Keller

Her real name was Annie Sullivan, but her nickname suited her, Miss Spitfire. Annie was orphaned as a child. She and her beloved brother were sent to an Almshouse in Massachusetts. Jimmy died soon after and Annie, who was herself almost completely blind, certainly knew her share of loneliness, fear and anger. Amazingly, her spirit survived. This is the woman who will answer the letter from Captain and Mrs. Keller as they search for someone to teach their wild daughter, Helen. From their struggles comes a story of fierce determination and triumph that inspires us to this day. This is a novel though based on much research.
