One day Millie is out for a walk when she passes a hat shop. In the window of the hat shop she sees the most glorious hat. So, she goes inside and tries it on. It fits perfectly. But when it comes time to pay for the hat, it is just too expensive. So she asks the hat seller, do you have something cheaper perhaps? How cheap? Well, her purse is empty. Ah, that cheap.
The hat seller thinks and then brings her a box. "This is a most marvellous hat, Madam," said the man. "It can be any size, shape or color you wish. All you have to do is imagine it." With great dignity he hands her the hat.
Now Millie's imagination takes off. Her hat can be covered with feathers, cakes and even a fountain. Then Millie sees that she is not the only one with a special hat. How glorious. Everyone has a different kind of hat. "Millie felt like singing. And so did her hat." What a fabulous book about imagination and about being your own true special self.
