Marshes and Swamps

Okay, quick quiz for you. What's the difference between a marsh and a swamp? Thank goodness for Gail Gibbons who takes on so many important subjects and explains them so a child (and the adult) can really understand them. In this book, Gail explores saltwater marshes and freshwater marshes and the variety of plants and animals that need them to survive. Then she takes on the swamps and does the same thing. In the back of the book is a list of wetlands in the United States that you might want to visit. Did you know that "less than half of the 215 million acres of wetland that were in the continental United States still exist?"
