Good for Reluctant Readers?

“I had a bad August. A very bad August. As bad a pickle juice on a cookie. As bad as a spiderweb on your leg.  As bad as the black parts of a banana.  I hope your August was better.  I really do. “

When third grader Eleanor’s beloved babysitter, Bibi moves to Florida to look after her sick father, Eleanor feels like her life has become like pickle juice on a cookie…something sour dumped on the treasured sweet.  She is sure she will not like her new babysitter, Natalie, and that third grade will be scary. Of course, as August goes by, Eleanor learns that love exists despite distance and new friends do come along, when you least expect them, and that when life gives you lemons, start a lemonade stand.
