This is one of the funniest books I've read in a long time. Lenny and Mel are taking on one holiday after another and not always winning. The book starts with the first day of school which neither boy is looking forward to. They are out to make a great first impression on their teacher, Miss Handsaw but fail miserably. On to Halloween where Lenny tapes candy wrappers all over himself to go trick or treating as the floor of the movie theater and Mel goes as a box. Lenny spends the night biting his tongue as people refer to him as Mr. Trash Day and Mel spends his evening trying to get out of the shrubs he's wandered into as blind as a box so to speak. Thanksgiving doesn't bode any better for these two as they are fed up to the teeth with turkey leftovers. Fast Eddie in gym class convinces them that the Leftover Fairy will come and buy up the leftovers at a darn good price if they'll just shovel them under their pillow a la the toothfairy. You know the rest of the calendar is rolling along. Valentine's Day anyone? This is a great book to hand to those young readers who want something funny and a bit wacky. 60 pages
