Taylee Pierce is a Drea trying to live a normal typical teenage life in Boise, Idaho. She has a gift that allows her to control other people’s minds. The Rygons see her and the other Dreas as a way to control the world. All they have to do is hunt down the Dreas with the gifts they need so they can suck that gift out of them and use it themselves in their mission for control.
The Kembers have strength, speed and a physical ability that aides them in protecting the Dreas. Each Kember who is chosen is assigned a Drea to guard and protect from the Rygons until death.
When a rogue Kember tries to attack Taylee and Delmari her assigned Kember, she finds herself running for her life leaving Delmari to fight just as he has been trained. When she learns of his death her rebellious nature turns to anger and she will do anything to avenge his death and find his murderer.
When she is assigned her new Kember she is still not happy and finds it impossible to move on from Delmari’s death. As Taylee and Aiden her new Kember search for answers on who the rogue Kember is they begin to uncover information about Taylee and who her parents are that stun her. People have lied to her, her whole life – why? Will she ever be able to trust anyone again? But that is not the only information she learns that leads to many questions. How could she have lived her life without seeing at least some of what she is learning now?
What will it take to survive as she watches her life as she has always known it change in dangerous ways putting her life in peril more than once?
