Know a reluctant reader? Here is a book he or she will love to read! This little boy does not want to read this book. He lists off a whole slew of excuses that can delay his reading. Before he will read he needs water, to scratch, floss his teeth, well you get the idea! Then he has a change of mind and decides he isn't going to read at all.. even if you "hang him upside down, tickle his feet, hang him over a cliff. This cumulative story gets more and more dire with sharks and dragons and speeding trains coming into the picture. With the tension mounting we wonder if this reluctant reader will ever decide to read a book... especially this book. Great fun and plenty of suspense. Ages 5-9 32 pages

Not even, in fact, if you hung him upside down by one toe over a cliff with sharks below and dragons above. That’s how much he is not going to read this book.

I Will Not Read This Book is a bright and silly tale that will appeal to youngsters, especially those who are a little more reluctant to read or be read to. The illustrations are vivid and colorful and goofy and the story itself has a lot of good repetition to draw in young listeners. Above all, it will make readers and listeners laugh out loud as the determined boy struggles against books. (Of course, he finally comes around in the end, as we know he must.)
