I have enjoyed this book for years. Have you ever seen a Banyan Tree? I have not, but after reading this book , I would love to. They grow in India, Indonesia, Hawaii, Florida and the Caribbean. In this village it is called The Grandfather Tree, which makes it seem to watch over the people who care for it so deeply.People worship there and hold their markets there. They find shade there, and they hold school there. The animals and the spotted owlets find shelter there. The children play there. It’s such a place of harmony.
