Horton Hears a Who

Horton hears a Who but no one else can hear the Who and they don't believe he can hear the Who either.  (Try to say that three times fast.)

Yes, Horton the elephant's big ears have picked up the tiny, feeble sound of a Who ...and it's not just any who..it's the Mayor of Who-ville.  His entire town exists on one little bitty speck of dust so you can understand why most ears can't pick up his call.  But Horton, he of the majestic ears, does hear him.

The Mayor is asking Horton to help them find a safe place where they can all live in harmony together.  But the head of Horton's world, a kangaroo, insists there is no such thing.  Since she can't see the Who townspeople and she can't smell them or touch them, they are not there and there must be something wrong with Horton.

So begins Horton's quest.  Welcome courage.  Good riddance bullies and naysayers.

Turns out that even the smallest speck of a creature is important and needs to be heard.  What a lovely message for our world.  This is a classic from Dr. Seuss.

*************

"Horton is back! After his first appearance in Horton Hatches the Egg, everyone’s favorite elephant returns in this timeless, moving, and comical classic in which we discover that “a person’s a person, no matter how small.” Thanks to the irrepressible rhymes and eye-catching illustrations, young readers will learn kindness and perseverance (as well as the importance of a good “Yopp”) from the very determined—and very endearing—Horton the elephant."--from the publisher
