A little girl named Soo Min is about to arrive in America to be adopted by her new family. She speaks no English and her family only knows four words of Korean. But magically there is something in her new home that makes her feel good... the cat or as they say in Korean, goyangi. Soo Min shares her bed with the cat and its presence soothes her. When she ventures out on errands the thought of feeding the cat calls her back and she tugs on her mother's sleeve. Then the cat disappears. This is a sensitive, feeling story about the experience of being adopted in a country that is so unfamiliar. The colors and the words deliver the tears and the smiles.
