Edwin and John Wilkes Booth were the two sons of famed actor Junius Booth. Their lives were intertwined but it was John's passion for the Confederacy that led him down a dark path. Both brothers were dedicated actors though Edwin leaned toward the classical while John was more of a celebrity and a man for the ladies. The book follows their lives into their adulthood and offers a glimpse into the motives and influences on both but particularly on John Wilkes Booth as he makes the decision to assassinate the president. The narrative is well researched and reads like a newspaper story with facts and anecdotes combined. 256 pages Ages 12 and up
