Gilbert is going to be George Washington in the class play about honesty and truth and the cherry tree. Gilbert is nervous and he decides to take home the hat that's part of his costume so he can practice his part in the play wearing the hat. Only problem with that is that Gilbert is not allowed to take the hat out of school. When the day comes for the play, the hat is missing.
