In Louisiana back in the early 1800s even slaves had Sundays off from work.  Each week hundreds of slaves and free blacks flocked to Congo Square where they were allowed to assemble, play their own music, dance and share news.

Their hopes stayed alive as every day they counted the days until Sunday at Congo Square.
