Flip

Alex thought it was just an ordinary day when he woke up. However, things aren’t quite as they should be and he is inside someone else’s body in someone else’s home. What’s happening? How did I get here? Everyone thinks he is Phillip (Flip). Alex was involved in a hit and run accident as a pedestrian and is in a coma. His soul is in Phillip’s body.

What has happened to Flip? Alex has to figure out how to manage as Flip, who was a smart aleck and good at sports, and quite the ladies man, all of which are foreign to Alex. The only good thing about being in Flip’s body is that his asthma isn’t acting up. Through some research on the computer, Alex finds a group calling themselves psychic evacuees. They are people who experienced the same thing as Alex. Alex befriends a fellow psychic evacuee, Rob. Alex finds out that he the only psychic evacuee whose original body didn’t die. The question remains – can Alex return to his body? I highly recommend this book for reluctant older and mature readers. This is a story about friends and family. The author makes the idea of psychic evacuees very believable.

*********

What does it mean to have a soul whose will to live knows no limits?

One morning fourteen-year-old Alex wakes up to find himself in the wrong bedroom, in an unfamiliar house, in a different part of the country. Six months have disappeared overnight. The family at the breakfast table? Total strangers.

And when he looks in the mirror, another boy's face stares back. A boy named Philip, known as Flip. Unless Alex finds out what's happened and how to get back to his own life, he'll be trapped forever inside a body that belongs to someone else.

Martyn Bedford's debut novel for young adults is fearless and fast-paced, a riveting psychological thriller about a boy coming undone in the most extraordinary of circumstances. --from the publisher
