This is an early look at the Pilgrims who came to America with basic information on why they chose to leave England and what their lives were like when they arrived in the New World. Readers will learn that the Pilgrims did not initially try to make friends of the Native Americans who were already living on the land. It took months for them to realize they needed help and many Pilgrims died due to the hardships they experienced.
Pilgrims invited the Native Americans to share a large feast with them...a feast that would not have been possible without the help of the Native Americans..and that feast became known as Thanksgiving when President Abraham Lincoln made it a national day of giving thanks.
Native Americans featured here include: Massasoit, Squanto, Samoset.
