Leroy Brown became Encyclopedia Brown when his father, the local police chief in fictional Idaville, saw that his son knew as much as an encyclopedia. Each story starts out with Encyclopedia Brown solving a case at the dinner table using logic and deductive reasoning. In each case Encyclopedia Brown sits at the dinner table, closes his eyes and then asks his father one great question that leads them to the trick they need to know.
Encyclopedia sets up his own detective agency and solves cases for a quarter.
If you liked Donald Sobol's other book series, Two-Minute Mysteries, you will love these mysteries too.
Read carefully and you can discover the thing that doesn't seem right, the thing that doesn't make sense, the thing that doesn't fit in...maybe even before Encyclopedia Brown solves the case. You can always look in the "Answers" section in the back of the book to see where the clues were.
