Day-Glo Brothers

"Even if they wanted to, the ancient Egyptians couldn't ahve painted their pyramids a green that glowed in the desert sun. Back in 2600 BCE, there was no such color." But, thanks to Bob and Joe Switzer, we can!!! Brother Bob was a worker and a planner. Brother Joe was a magician. When Bob took a job inspecting railroad cars, he fell and hit his head. To heal he spent a long time in the darkness of his basement. Joe was in the basement too but he was experimenting with a new kind of light called black lights. Together, they used their special talents to invent a brand new color. They called it "Fire Orange." Now their new colors are used on aircraft carriers, on buoys, and even in famous paintings by Andy Warhol. These are two regular guys who used their imaginations and their intelligence to create something amazing and they got rich too! Ages 8-11 44 pages
