How absolutely wonderful to discover a series of books for early readers that respects what they want to know and how they like to learn.
Here is an early reader, a Level 1 in the world of National Geographic readers, that gives children a chance to learn about day and night. We use different terms like dusk and daylight when we talk about our times of day and the brilliance of this informational book is that it places us in different geographical areas among the animals so we see day and night in the context of the lives of lions or zebras or fish.
Using gorgeous National Geographic photographs, the more experienced reader handles the page on the left-hand side and then hands the reading baton over to the younger reader who takes off with the right hand page. Both readers have the dignity of beautiful backgrounds to their pages and both have information to share with each other.
There are quizzes at the end of some of the chapters for those kids who love to see if they now really know it all. We travel through the day exploring time through the lives of owls, plants, and even fungi.
Designed to entertain and inform, this series gives young minds a chance to absorb new information at the same time they are practicing their own skills with informational text.
