It was a dark and stormy night... okay, it wasn't exactly that... but things are starting to get a little spooky and exciting around the farm.  Everyone is getting ready for Halloween except for Farmer Brown.  He, surrounded by candy corn chomping chickens, doesn't like Halloween at all.  It scares him.

So, as the good Farmer takes himself off to his bed to hide under the covers, the animals are down in the barn setting up a good time.  Halloween party all around.  You have not lived until you've seen the chickens in their ghost costumes.

Meanwhile, back at the house, the Farmer is starting to hear things...things that happily come in threes.  Like "creak, creak, creaking," and "tap, tap, tapping," and "crunch, crunch, crunching." Perfect for a read aloud for a classroom or library story time.

Then, out on the lawn there arose such a clatter...oops, nope, no clatter...this time dunh, dunh, dunh... there is a "dark creature standing beneath the trees."  Ooooooooohhhhhh!  It gets closer and closer and closer and those bed covers just might not be able to do their job of keeping the good Farmer safe and sound in his bed.

If you know Click, Clack, Moo and its brothers and sisters, then you know all about the shady animals who inhabit this farm.  They're gloriously up to their tricks and the story gently leads us through some happily scary moments.  Just enough...not too much.

Beware the Quackle.

Makes you smile just to look at the cover because you know these two pros...Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin are going to deliver perfection.

b>Will the barnyard animals trick—or treat—Farmer Brown? Find out in this Halloween tale from the #1 New York Times bestselling creators of Click, Clack, Moo.

Farmer Brown does not like Halloween. So he draws the shades, puts on his footy pajamas, and climbs into bed.

But do you think the barnyard animals have any respect for a man in footy pajamas? No, they do not. For them, the Halloween party has just begun. And we all know these critters far prefer tricks over treats.

There are big surprises in store for Farmer Brown!--from the publisher
