Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew

The royalty, the talking beasts, the magic, and the beauty of Narnia did not always exist. In fact, when Digory and Polly first arrived, Aslan was only beginning to create the magical world of Narnia, but much happened to even get them there.

In the middle of London, Digory first met Polly with tears streaming down his face. His father left for India, his mother was deathly ill, and he was stuck with his crazy Uncle Andrew away from his lovely home in the countryside. The two became great friends and did many exciting things together, but none so great as being tricked into another world by Uncle Andrew, the magician.

This other world led to several more worlds, and what good is it to have access to them and not visit? Digory and Polly travel to the dying world of Charn, only to find themselves in a pickle of trouble with an evil witch. That witch follows them home to Earth and even into Narnia. In Narnia they all get to meet the great lion, Aslan, and go on an adventure that will write Digory in Narnian history as the very first hero. Ever.
