With Tobias the gardener’s boy as her ally, Charlie leaves the castle for the first time in five years and strives to locate her mother and save her father from his madness, as well as saving the country. Charlie is a resourceful girl who is not without faults. Her growth as she searches for her mother and learns whom she can trust makes for an excellent read.
