“They never should have unlocked the door. They never should have let them in. The tour wasn’t on the schedule…The fifth man – the one whose name was never on the clipboard – had disappeared.”
Three kids stranded in the airport in Washington, D.C. meet when one unplugs one of the others’ devices. Soon the three discover they have more in common than they could have imagined as they try to solve a mystery involving a stolen artifact, the American Flag that inspired the Star Spangled Banner. As they chase their clues through the airport, they soon realize they may actually be able to solve the crime before their stranded flight to Vermont is boarded. This fast paced adventure is a bit like National Treasure for middle grade readers. The three main characters, a girl and two boys, strike the right balance of believability as they rush to solve the mystery.
