Cam is a skateboarder through and through. Front side flips,ollies, 360’s, this is Cam’s world. His big brother Ben however is a rodeo cowboy, a bull rider and now a Marine in Iraq. The dreaded phone call comes. Ben is coming home but he has been badly injured by an IED. As Ben begins his slow recovery from the physical injuries, Cam’s life is changing. Everything seems centered around Ben, but Ben can’t see much of a future. Cam as a younger brother, a skateboarder, just can’t get through to him. Yet Ben continues to challenge Cam to continue the family tradition and become a bull rider. Riding Ugly, the huge bull that has never let any rider stay aboard for the required 8 seconds, would yield a purse of $15,000. That would help the family with the bills and get Ben started in business. But first you’d have to be a bull rider, and then you’d have to be 18 and Cam is only 14. 241 pages Ages 12 and up
