In this companion to Bookie & Cookie, the friends find themselves on a blank page, wondering what might be next. Bookie imagines something wonderful such as a bright sunny day, but Cookie worries that it might be something terrible, like an awful stormy day. “We might find a field full of butterflies,” Bookie suggests, but Cookie is afraid it might instead be a marsh full of mosquitoes! Will Bookie ever be able to convince his nervous friend to turn the page and find out? A delightful surprise is waiting there.---from the publisher

Anxiety. Boy, if that isn't the word of today and how many of us know and love a child who feels anxiety in their daily lives these days. I would say a lot of us know that child. It's hard to watch our children feel so afraid of what might come and we search for ways to reassure and comfort them.
Cookie and Bookie are right there with us and the best thing that is that we are watching two friends, young'uns ,who care about each other and want to help each other.
So, when Cookie is staring at a blank page in the book and does not want to turn the page for fear of what might be next, it's Bookie who sees the world through very different eyes and steps up to save the day.
Reading this book aloud to our children will give them a pair of new friends and their voices will sound familiar. Most of us have both Cookie and Bookie inside of us talking to us as we go along. It's nice to see them show up in pages so we get to meet them and understand that we can choose between them. We can live in the space of friendship, caring, positive thinking. It's like having an invisible hug friend who can always be there with you. So, welcome Bookie. We are so glad to meet you and we are so happy you see the world with all of its possibilities.
A great read aloud and a must for our school counselor bookshelves.
P.S. Especially good for our Investigator reader personality - who are born to ask "What if?"

With Bookie as the optimist and Cookie as the pessimist, BOOKIE & COOKIE TURN THE PAGE considers increasingly fantastical ‘what if’ situations and musings that many children with fears of the unknown will relate to. Bookie imagines, "We might find a field full of butterflies," but Cookie is afraid it might instead be a marsh full of mosquitoes! Will Bookie ever be able to convince his nervous friend to turn the page and find out?
There are fun details for eagle-eyed readers to discover on every page like a mouse with an umbrella, a giraffe in a parade, a tortoise in a party hat, and perhaps a new friend for the duo.
BOOKIE & COOKIE TURN THE PAGE offers accessible social-emotional lessons related to anxiety, new experiences, and the importance of how we frame our thoughts. The book illustrates how our worst worries can shape our attitudes and beliefs, even when reality is less daunting than we imagine. While not dismissing Cookie, Bookie gently shows how reframing our thoughts and stepping out of one’s comfort zone can lead to discovering all kinds of wonders.
With exuberant illustrations and a classic feel, this scrumptious read-aloud will become a cherished treasure in every child’s book collection.---from the publisher
