Violet has a problem and it's a math problem so she goes to her brother Arthur for help. 'If I have five peas and you take three and give me back two, how many peas will I have?' 'All of them,' said Arthur. 'I don't like peas'.' Arthur has his own problem though. He needs to make money to buy a baseball cap to fit in on his team. He decides to start his own business. He's about to learn a whole lot about doing business and the readers who like to really understand the world and how it works will soak this up like a sponge. It's also fun for the readers who like to add and subtract. This is vintage hilarity. What a tremendous empathy for children Lillian Hoban had as she wrote.
