A classroom is conducting an egg hatching project, but one egg is different in size, color and markings. The students will hatch the eggs, help the chicks to grow and observe their development. Sally thinks her egg is unusual and special; her teacher feels it will be fine when it hatches and grows. The students make line graphs of growth and watch their chicks grow. At every event Sally's extraordinary chick causes trouble. Sally is concerned about the chick's differences and envies the normal chicks her classmates have. When Sally's chick disappears, Sally is suddenly sad and decides to find Argus. Her classmates join in the search for the unusual missing chick. When Sally finds Argus, she learns a valuable lesson about differences. Recommended by Christy Pierce, Librarian, Maryland, USA
