When soldiers to come to their house, everyone is afraid and father says they have to leave everything behind and go to America where they can be free. So, the family leaves their life in the Caribbean and everything they know and pile into a small boat. The voyage is difficult. Pirates find them. They float for days. This is a story of courage and risk and ends in gratitude on Thanksgiving Day.
