Janie's parents want to give her the best education they can, so her mother saves her money from knitting sweaters and they move to a new school district they can barely afford. Everyone else in the school is rich and Janie feels different. Then, her mother's sweaters stop selling and they can't afford to buy Janie new clothes. This is a great story about walking in someone else's shoes, about valuing the person and not the clothing and about friendship and peer pressure. Reminiscent of The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes.
