Part of a Series

This is the first book in the trilogy of Island books. A small group of kids is being gathered to 'chart a new course.' Luke has a felony conviction for having a gun in his locker. Will and Lyssa are a brother and a sister who treat each other violently. Charla is being pressured by her family to make the Olympics, and she has burned out. Ian watches too much TV. J.J.'s father is a famous movie star, and J.J. is an obnoxious, spoiled kid, who thinks he's the center of the world. They have all been sent for this experience on the boat, Phoenix, in the hopes they will do some growing up and some changing. The story is full of information about sailing and boats, but this will not be the ordinary adventure, however. A storm is brewing. After reading the three Island books, if you're looking for more, try Korman's three Everest books and his three Dive books.
