Fiction/Non-Fiction
In rhyming verse delivered in full Scottish accent, Lachie MacLachlan and his wife bid every traveler welcome into their home where there is always room for one more. Amongst the heather and the gorse the house begins to bulge and looks near to popping. And pop it does as the whole thing comes tumbling apart with all the dancing, singing and squishing inside. But be done with the grumpetie grouse, and all the blether, the entire happy crowd gathers together to build a whole new home where there will always be room for one more. It's a Scottish song and the black and white tinged with heather purple illustrations earned the Caldecott Medal back in the sixties.
