Every year this family begins Hanukkah by having Grandma tell the story of her time spent in the concentration camp of Buchenwald. She was only 12 years old at the time and to celebrate this important religious holiday, she risked everything to steal a potato and some margarine so she could hollow out the potato to make a candle. The family honors the sacrifice, the horror and the resilience that have brought them to this moment.
