A young boy heads to Ireland to do God's work but finds himself unwanted and his mission ignored. So he takes himself up into the hills and creates his own place of good works and the flock that comes to him is all animals. He has been sent by St. Patrick and he does the work equivalent to that of St. Francis of Assisi. His gentle spirit and love attract many and the nobility of his life and his life's work drew the eye and the pen of Gary Schmidt who has immortalized this saint in this lovely picture book.
