A Book and a Hug

Ryan and Jimmy and the Well in Africa That Brought Them Together

Reviewed by Administrator on March 24, 2009.

When Ryan was a first-grader, his teacher at school told his class that people in some countries in Africa have to walk as far as twelve miles to get water and that that water may be so dirty that children and grown-ups die from drinking it. Ryan cared very deeply about this. So, he decided to save money to get enough to buy a well for an Africa village. That's the beginning of this amazing story about a boy and his Ugandan pen pal. It's a powerful tale about the difference one person, even at the age of 7, can make. Ryan now has a foundation and speaks all over the world. His pen pal has now escaped certain death in Uganda. So, tell me...what did you do today?
