Elephant and Piggie are just hanging around when suddenly Elephant notices that someone is looking at them and that someone is YOU the reader. Piggie peers out of the book and is delighted to announce that she sees a Reader and that the Reader is reading them. They are in a book! How exciting. Piggie then shows Elephant that she can get the Reader to say a certain word....Banana! The connection between the characters on the page and the reader is direct. We have bonded. How delightful to be in conversation with this entertaining pair of chums. Fun continues until they discover that the book might end and they certainly don't want that to happen. With his usual simply drawn characters, Mo Willems conveys the roller coaster of emotions these two experience and offers us high drama as it appears the book just might draw to a close around Page 57. Highly entertaining and a great early reader series. Ages 4-8 64 pages
