The Mostly True Adventures of Homer P. Figg

All the family Homer has in the world is his older brother Harold and now some thievin' villains have come and sold Harold into the Army. He's gone. It's the time of the Civil War and Harold has just been sold to the Union Army. Homer learns that what just happened to his brother is illegal and he sets off to find Harold and set things right. He's about to set out on the road to adventure. He'll join a traveling caravan and become the Amazing Pig Boy in the cage for gawkers to view. He'll sail on a ship and rise in a hot air balloon. Eventually he'll make his way to Pennsylvania and a little town called Gettysburg. This is a great adventure story set in the Civil War and centered on one boy's determination to find his brother and to right a wrong. 240 pages Ages 9-13
