Everyone knows the story of Jamestown but it turns out they weren't quite the first colonists to make it to these American shores. This is the story of England's first efforts to colonize the "New World" with hopes of making fortunes. Turns out that in 1585 Sir Walter Raleigh convinced his queen to send 500 colonists to search for treasure. A second boatload arrives in 1587 and this time the passengers include women. But the Algonquian Indians are already living on the land and they naturally see these new arrivals as a threat to their way of life.
Early American history is brought to life in the now standard comic illustrations and gruesome details.
