Try Not to Breathe

Ryan is home from a stay at a mental hospital following an unsuccessful suicide attempt.  He spends most of his time alone at the local waterfall because it is the only thing that makes him feel alive.  During one of his visits to the waterfall, he meets Nicki, a local teen and fellow student who is full of life and curiosity about his depression and suicide attempt.

Ryan discovers an ease with Nicki that allows him to open up and share his darkest secrets with her, but that trust will be the thing he needs to start living again.  Nicki has her own issues as well, and together the two work to try to heal each other.  The story that unfolds in this fast paced, riveting book is one that centers on a difficult subject, but readers will stay with the story to see how Ryan overcomes his struggles.  A thought provoking read that looks at what happens when someone survives a suicide attempt, instead of how the living deal with the aftermath of a successful attempt.
