Someone has stolen potent magical items from three of the most powerful witches in Ferryport Landing... but why? It is up to the Grimm family to solve this case. But this is not the only problem that has arisen in the Grimm's lives: holes in time are appearing all over Ferryport Landing, the former Mayor Charming is missing and Mayor Heart (aka the Queen of Hearts) has lobbied incredible taxes on Ferryport Landing's human occupants... including the Grimms! Confounding the whole matter Mr Canis' tenuous control over the Wolf is slipping and Puck is starting to act weird. When their doppelgangers from fifteen years into the future arrive, Sabrina and Daphne learn that things are about to get even stranger and far more deadly as the murderous group known as the Scarlet Hand will begin an all out war with humanity. How are these things connected? Can the girls find the missing items, locate Charming, help their grandmother, and figure out what is going on with Puck? Or will they be sucked into the dark vision of the future that awaits. It appears that this book may be the turning point in the series, as the villains begin to take a more prominent role. Things are looking grim for the Grimms, can they pull it off? Like all of the other books in the series, Magic and Other Misdemeanors has the same "nod" to fairy tales and classical children's fiction, but unlike the others, this story takes a darker turn.
