President of the United States is a powerful and prestigious title to have after one's name and can create a larger than life feeling especially when viewed through the eyes of a child.  This warm, encouraging biography of America's 40th president, Ronald Reagan, takes us through the life of this man of humble origins and delivers him to us as someone just like us who cared deeply and was willing to take risks and responsibility to stand up for his country, his people and his beliefs.

The story tracks from his early days as a "cute and chubby baby" in a home with a sampler hanging on the wall with the inspiring words "You can be too big for God to use, but you cannot be too small," on through his teen years of hard work and embraced opportunities  and comes into bloom with the events of his life in politics.

The feel of this book is one big smile and a bucketful of hope.  There is a genuine  encouragement for readers to take the lessons from this man's life.  Be willing to seize the opportunities that come your way, be willing to care deeply about the things that are important to you, and be courageous enough to dedicate your talents and God-given gifts to take responsibility to make the world a better place.

Author, Susan Allen, is the wife of the former Governor of Virginia, and was a family friend of President Reagan. She brings a deep caring for the person, Ronald Reagan, and the warmth of their friendship is felt throughout though never discussed.

The illustrations are smiling and uplifting with Reagan's image as the focus on every spread until we turn to the last pages and watch him walk away.
