Our children are getting confusing signals about celebrities and heroes. This book offers them a glimpse of a real heroes who stepped up to make a difference in cultures and countries around the globe. The narrative about each hero is only two to three pages long but clearly defines for the reader what the issue was that this hero took on and how he or she chose to overcome it. The heroes range from Mahatma Gandhi to Sojourner Truth and from Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma to Meena Keshwar Kamal of Afghanistan. What a wonderful way to teach children about the power of the individual to make a difference.
