Sarel is a girl with secrets. Musa has a special talent for finding water in the dry desert. Nandi is the leader of Sarel’s dogs; looking out for her pups and grieving Sarel. Nandi knows that Musa has the water song in him, and can save them all.
After Sarel’s parents are murdered for the water on their property, Sarel tries to survive and care for her dogs. Musa has the ability to divine water lying deep in the earth, and this gift has gotten him kidnapped by a vicious gang, the Thandie, looking for water to stay alive in the city. When Musa escapes his captors, he crosses the dry land to where he hears the water hum far below the surface, not far from where Sarel’s homestead is. The two of them must learn to trust each other if they are going to survive.
