The smell of Ms. Perkins' new perfume.  The sounds of shuffling shoes.  A key clicking in a lock.  What does school "look" like to someone who cannot see?  Zulay's day is getting started.  She finds her desk and settles in.

This is a story about four friends and one of whom is very special young lady who is happens to be blind.    They are all first graders.  Their teacher, Ms. Seeger, announces to the class that Field Day is coming.  Everyone in the class is announcing what event they want to compete in and Zulay decides she wants to run in the race.  Zulay usually walks with a cane to help her "see" where she is going.   She has learned to be patient, to try her best and now just maybe ... just maybe... she will learn to fly.
