The Mallory series continues. This is a great series for girls who like to read about girls in various situations. It's a bit of what I call "social reading" just because Mallory is usually involved in some sort of personal or relationship issue. In this case she is pretty upset that her brother, Max, gets a puppy and upstages her with her cat. Her nose is pretty well out of joint since the spotlight has shifted. It takes a few chapters but eventually she's going to start to see herself in a true light and realize she might need to let someone else have the attention especially since she's the one who let the puppy free and now he's lost. If you're trying to wean a girl off of Junie B. Jones, this is a good place to start. Read Mallory On Board to get a feel for the storylines. Ages 7-10 150 pages
