Heartbeat

Every living thing has a heartbeat.   It's something we share whether animal or human being.

This is the deeply touching story of one whale whose life stretches through 200 years of human existence.  During that time whales are slaughtered brutally.  We witness as a young whale loses her mother and wanders alone in the ocean until a young girl aboard an ocean lines hears the whale.

Empathy connects the two beings who share the wonder of a heartbeat and the gift of a planet that deserves our protection.

Illustrations reach the deepest of feelings and offer them back to us in glorious color and sweep to reveal for us our own connection to the wonder that surrounds us and perhaps even the creator that gave us this incredible gift of a natural world.  Perhaps we each will remember our own heartbeat and find a way to contribute to conserving our world.

This cinematic picture book from critically acclaimed author and illustrator Evan Turk follows the life of a baby whale from birth, to song, to silence, to a new song of compassion and hope for a brighter future.

Two hearts, one song. A young whale and her mother sing together. Heartbeat. Then the mother is gone. One heart, one song.  The young whale swims, alone and lonely, for days and years and decades… until one day a little girl hears her and joins her song. Together, they sing of hope for a brighter future. One world, one song, one heartbeat.--from the publisher
