Dog and Bear: Three to Get Ready

Dog and Bear are friends who remind me very much of Mo Willems' characters, Elephant and Piggie. Bear seems to be the more rational, organized, careful sort of friend. Dog is full of adventure and energy and imagination. In the first of the three stories in this book, it is Bear who finds himself in a bit of a jam. Think of Winnie the Pooh and the honey jar stuck on his head. Bear has a bucket stuck on his head and it is up to Dog to figure a way out of this mess. He does.....more or less:) Then, on to making the bed and the two very different approaches to the task. We finish with Bear's magnificently organized brown boxes each marked with a letter to indicate their contents. But in all this organization, Sock Monkey seems to have gotten lost. Where is he? Hmm.. is he in the box marked "C" for "cuddly?" Nope. Try again. This is a great early reader and at the same time a wonderful read aloud to share. All about friendship, accepting differences, helping each other. And not a video game in sight.
