Whenever I'm invited to read for a Family Reading Night at an elementary school this is one of the books I grab for a read aloud. Tina loves chocolate. She's the kind of funky kid who can and wants to eat chocolate for every meal. Choco-crunchies for breakfast and chocolate milk for lunch are her idea of a good day. Now, Tina's health teacher, Mrs. Ferdman, is a health-nut. She insists the kids should only eat foods that are good for you and her idea of a special treat is dried prunes."You are what you eat," is her mantra. Amazingly it seems this is true because one morning Tina wakes up and has become Chocolatina. She is now made out of chocolate. The tension mounts when Tina has to ride the bus, go out for recess and then must show her face in health class. Is Mrs. Ferdman out of her mind? Filled with suspense and possible danger the story thrills with its chocolate horror. Ages 7-10
